The Summer Domestic Box Office Broke An All-Time Record
The domestic summer box office has broken its all-time record, generating $4.76 billion from May 1st through Labor Day. The figure surpasses the previous record of $4.755 billion set in 2013. Notably, all four summer months each surpassed $1 billion individually — a first in history.
Over the Labor Day weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day claimed the No. 1 spot, earning roughly $23.4 million. The film has now surpassed $900 million domestically, making it only the second movie ever to reach that milestone after Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Globally, it has crossed $2.33 billion, ranking third all-time.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey landed at No. 2 with $17.3 million, bringing its domestic total to $589 million. Coyote vs. Acme placed third with $15.8 million. By Any Means earned $9.2 million for fourth place. Insidious: Out Of The Further rounded out the top five with $8.1 million.
